Obiettivi formativi:

Objectives:

The course aims at providing a basic knowledge in International economics and in main international current topics (gravity model, organized crime and international terrorism), addressing in economic perspective. It will focus also on the role of International Organizations. 

This course offers students the opportunity to achieve not only basic notions of economic relations among countries and economies, but also analytical methodologies to understand the impact, effects, benefits and drawbacks of international trade, international financial flows and the public goods' production ( i.e. financial stability, security and safety).

Contenuto e articolazione del corso:

Part A -  Basic: Introduction to Macroeconomics;

Part B - Basic: International Trade: gains from international trade; the teory of comparative advantages; International trade and factor endowments; imperfect competition, scale economies and international trade; trade policy; economic integration, World Trade Organization.

Part C – International Macroeconomics: introduction to International financial markets and foreign exchange market; Exchange rates, interest rates and prices; open-economy general macroeconomic model (Mundell-Fleming); exchange-rate regimes and balance-of-payments crises.focus on International Financial Crisis, International Monetary Fund; 

 

Part D - Intenrational Development :development concepts, growth and development, international production and development, World Bank .

 

Part E- International Production: Foreign market entry and international production, managing international production, migration.

Basic notions on micro and macroeconomics are required

Final assessment of the International Economic Policy and development course at the conclusion of the semester:

Attending Students: the final assessment will be the average of two mid-terms tests:

1.      Two Mid-term evaluations:

1.      Multiple choice test  (20 questions on Parts B-C);

2.      Multiple choice test  (20 questions on Parts D-E).

 

Not attending students:

1.      Multiple choice test  (20 questions)

2.      Oral Examination (compulsory).

Students are required to attend all scheduled classes (at least 80%).  The students will sign in at the beginning of each class.
